狸tanuki cafe serves boutique coffee and tea along with a delicious breakfast menu, and a variety of fresh baked goods. We hand make everything from local ingredients including bread, pies and cafe treats.
We offer our own in house coffee blend and speciality single-origin bean, which use the hand drip technique to serve a quality of coffee un-available elsewhere in Nozawa.
Conveniently located just down from Oyu Onsen, 狸tanuki cafe is a perfect place for your morning coffee, or a great place to share a relaxing meal or snack with friends.

狸 tanuki restaurant
狸 tanuki restaurant is a Modern Japanese Fusion dining experience where we prioritise produce from the Shinshu region.
We use a variety of cooking techniques and aim to be approachable yet interesting to a wide range of guests while happily catering to most dietary requirements.
Our menu is complemented by a range of beverages including local juices, housemade non-alcoholic drinks, wines and beers.
To ensure your seat at our table during the busy winter period, please make an online booking.

Booking Policy
Reservations
We only accept online bookings.
Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance and up to 4 hours prior to your desired dining time.
Beverages are charged on consumption and we do not accept BYO. You are welcome to arrive earlier or stay after dinner at our bar downstairs.
Credit card details are required at the time of booking to avoid no shows. Please note that a ¥1000 per person cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations on the day of booking or no shows.
Seating
We have 15 tables and one large counter. The maximum group size is 10. For larger groups please contact us via phone or email.
Seating times
Booking is available at 17:30, 17:45, 18:00, 19:30, 19:45 or 20:00 (1.5h seating)
Please be here five minutes before your booking time. If you’re late, please contact us, or we’ll cancel your booking.
We will hold your table for a maximum of 10 minutes after your booking time.
Dietary Requirements
We would like to accommodate dietary requirement as much as possible with advance notice.
Please make sure to inform us all requests at the time of booking.
Children
We welcome children at our restaurant and we offer a kids menu for children under 10 years old at all seating times.
